Elementary, my dear Watson

The character Sherlock Holmes once said, “My mind is like a racing engine, tearing itself to pieces because it is not connected up to the work for which it was built.”

How applicable this is to our spirits as well! Though we are not saved through our works, when your faith is not connected up with the work for which it was built (i.e., loving God and loving others), you too will find your spiritual life racing and painful, creating dangerous situations as it fails to achieve its goals.

  1. Amen. I like to think of Christian life as moving/climing up on the "down escalator"... If you're not consistently moving forward and upward, you're being dragged backward and downward.
